5 snow geese were spotted at the Townsend Sewage Lagoons on Sun
10/6/2002 around 2:30 PM. They were in far pond that is closer to the
road in amongst the Canada Geese.

There were also tree swallows, barn swallows, greater and lesser
yellowlegs, pectoral sandpipers, stilt sandpipers, dunlin, water pipit,
savannah sparrow, 160+ ruddy ducks, 500+ mallards, 500+ Canada geese,
pied bill grebe, lesser scaup, American wigeon, green and blue winged
teal, black duck, ring-necked duck, 1 northern shoveler and just as we
walked out a sharpie flew over the lagoons.

Directions (copied from Mark Cranford's e-mail - thanks):

The Townsend Sewage Lagoons : Off Hwy 3 west of Jarvis. Take the road to
Townsend which is about 3 kilometres west of Jarvis and leaves north
from Hwy 3. Take the first sideroad west off the Townsend Rd and after
about a kilometre you will come to the lagoons which are north of the
sideroad.

Thanks
Jacques
