Light winds from the East and warm temperatures reaching a high of 10°C
dominated the day. There was cloud cover all day but good visibility.

Today was a Sharp-shinned hawk day with 235 sharpies passing over the
observers. Also a goodly number of Broad-winged Hawks made an appearance
much to the delight of those attending the annual open house. These were
the first Broad-winged Hawks of the season and they couldn't have picked a
better day to display their natural talents. Others included the usual
squadron of Turkey Vultures, a few osprey, some Norther Harriers, a
smattering of Cooper's Hawks, a lone Red-shouldered Hawk a zippy Merlin
some Red-tailed Hawks and several American Kestrels. All in all a good
selection to teach all those visitors about raptor migration.

Today's open house was reasonably well attended and a good time was had by
all. The hawks did their best to put on a good show with a respectable
variety for all the visitors.
