Hello Ontbirders -

At Humber Bay Park East this morning a group of Toronto Field Naturalists identified an immature male harlequin duck. The bird was seen in good light as it dove and surfaced in the open bay in front of us. The bird's head appeared very dark, and showed two clear white marks with a hint of a third at the neck, and some white in the primaries. Still present at 12.15, by then at the north side of the bay close to the condominium buildings northeast of the park entrance.

Other birds seen were willow flycatchers, 2 male scaup sp., common goldeneye pair, female hooded merganser with 2 young.

Humber Bay Park East is at the foot of Park Lawn Road and Lakeshore Road West, on the Toronto waterfront.
