[Ontbirds] Ad. male White-winged Scoter E. Lake Erie & Semipalmated Sandpiper

July 14  - A beautiful adult male in breeding plumage  White-winged Scoter 
was observed this morning about 25 yards from the shore of  Rock Point 
Provincial Park complete with distally orange and proximally yellow  bill with a gray 
knob. Also five shorebird species including 7 Lesser  Yellowlegs, 5 Least 
Sandpipers, and one Semipalmated Sandpiper. Also an  impressive 471 Bonapart's 
Gulls, about 2,500 Double-crested Cormorants, and  Caspian Terns. Also on Lake 
Erie at the end of Stonemill Road in western Fort  Erie were 9 Mute Swans and a Gr
eat Egret.
Rock Point Provincial Park is located in Dunville on the north shore  of Lake 
Erie 25 miles west of Fort Erie, Ontario, and 30 miles  west of Buffalo, NY 
at the source of the Niagara River.
