Today I received a message from Jack Green of Orillia describing a Brown
Pelican that he and four others saw at very close range as it flew by
their cottage on August 1.

As for the bird's age, it was described as "all brown" but since it was
seen in flight only it would be difficult to categorize the bird as
either a juvenile or first-summer immature.

Given the behaviour of Brown Pelicans on the Great Lakes in the past, it
seems probable that this bird will be seen again somewhere in Ontario
(but not necessarily close to the original location).

Exact directions are as follows:

"It was near Moons Bay on the east side of the north end of Lake Simcoe,
about 3 miles south of Orillia."
