Observation start time: 08:30:00
Observation end time: 17:00:00
Total observation time: 8.5 hours

Official Counter: Calvin Brennan

Observers: Fred Kirn, John Elliot, Terry Angevine

Weather:
Today saw partial clearing in the morning with variable amounts of cloud
cover persisting until mid afternoon when the sky cleared almost
completely. Winds were generally light throughout the day, initially from
the north-northwest but coming around to the east-northeast by the mid
afternoon and picking up slightly.

Observations:
The flight picked up quickly in mid morning and stayed steady, increasing
sharply in mid afternoon when the skies cleared. Large kettles of
Red-tails began to move through at that time with groups numbering 50, 60,
70 birds or more. Although not the magnitude of the Broad-wing groups,
these large kettles of Red-tails are still impressive in their own right.
Several other species saw their largest movements of the season so far:
Northern Goshawk, Red-shouldered Hawk, Golden Eagle and Rough-legged Hawk.

Also today, it was nice to see some small groups of Tundra Swans finally
migrating into the area.
