Despite the winter conditions, birding was good today. This morning I observed a 1st winter "Nelson's" Gull ( Herring X Glaucous Hybrid) at Andrew Haydon Park. It was on the eastern pond in a flock of Herring and Ring-billed Gulls. Along the shoreline of the Ottawa River at the eastern corner of AHP, a Dunlin was feeding, my first December record for Ottawa. At least 2 adult Red-headed Woodpeckers were still present yesterday, Nov.30 and one today at the old burn site at Constance Bay.
