Went on a scouting trip this morning to see what birds were around for the OFO Field Trip along Opinicon Road this Saturday. Hopefully the weather this Saturday will be as nice as today, with the same good sightings. All of the target species were located except Black-Billed Cuckoo. Sightings include 8 CERULEAN WARBLERS, 9 GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLERS, 4 YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS, 4 YELLOW-THROATED VIREOS, 5 RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS & 1 BROAD-WINGED HAWK. All of the glamour songbirds were present in good numbers including 13 species of warblers, 14 SCARLET TANAGERS, 8 INDIGO BUNTINGS, 5 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS, 9 ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS, 10 BALTIMORE ORIOLES, 2 NORTHERN CARDINALS & 3 EASTERN TOWHEES. A total of 75 bird species. There is also plenty to see for any butterfly or dragonfly enthusiasts. A Blandings Turtle, a Snowshoe Hare and an Otter were also spotted. Make sure to bring waterproof boots as some of the trails are quite wet and muddy.

Good Birding
