As usual, John Miles provided 16 OFO participants with a great weekend
of birds, flowers, ferns and orchids on the annual OFO Bruce Peninsula

A total of 105 birds were encountered. Saturday highlights were
at least 8 Black-billed Cuckoos, Sedge Wren, American Bittern, several
Black Terns at Shallow Lake, Brewer's Blackbird near Ferndale, and 15
warbler species. The Oliphant Fen had a fine display of orchids. Rare
fern species were found in a number of locations, including the
   Shallow Lake area.
The Sunday highlights included at least 2 male Dickcissels on
Dyers Bay Road, Merlin, Ruffed Grouse, Virginia Rail, Clay-colored
Sparrow, and Veery,Wood, Hermit and Swainson's Thrushes.
Rare ferns, flowers and orchids were also noted. For some, the best
