Sunny but slightly breezy conditions continue to dominate the weather at
the Park. Viewing conditions are excellent allowing great views of both
Baltimore and Orchard Orioles, as well as Rose-breasted Grosbeak. Indigo
Buntings have not returned in numbers and Scarlet Tanagers are expected any
day now, possibly even today!

Several pockets of warblers and other migrants are being reported from
numerous locations throughout the Park. Species include Black-throated
Blue, Black-throated Green, Pine, Blackburnian, Yellow-rumped, Palm,
Northern Parula, American Redstart, Black-and-White Warblers. Sparrows
continue to be seen in good numbers, including White-crowned and
White-throated Sparrows. Less obvious but also present are Lincoln's and
Swamp Sparrows. Perhaps most noteworthy, another Henslow's Sparrow was seen
from the Visitor Centre Parking lot but quickly decided to play
hide-and-seek. This could be the same individual observed a few days
earlier south along the West Beach trail.

Black Tern's along with Forster's and Common Terns, and several common
species of gull were seen flying around at the tip, possibly attracted by
the turbulent water. Amongst them, a white-winged gull, probably a Glaucous
Gull, was also seen flying past. A number of Surf Scoter added some colour
off the Tip.

The Black Vulture, seen yesterday, has not been reported today. However, at
least one Marbled Godwit was still present first thing this morning, along
E concession. Yesterday, it was also seen along D concession. A Peregrine
Falcon continues to be reported around the Park as well as out in the onion
fields immediately north of the Park.

Good Birding,

John Haselmayer, Karl Konze, Ross Mackintosh, Dave Martin, Pete Read and
Marianne Reid,
Friends of Point Pelee Hike Leaders.
