I was at the Nonquon S.L. (in Port Perry) this evening from 1930 - 2030h, and there was a Red Knot mixed in with the other various shorebirds. It was actively feeding along the edges at the south end of cell #3. There was also a Ruddy Turnstone in this same area. The majority of shorebirds were Dunlin and Semipalmated Sandpiper along with a few Semipalmated Plovers and singles of Least Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper and Killdeer.

A permit is required for all people entering the Nonquon S.L. It can be purchased for $5.00 at the Durham Region Transfer Station. This is located at 1623 Reach St in Port Perry. The hours are Tues - Sat from 0800 - 1600h and Thurs until 2000h. You can get to the Transfer Station by going east on Reach St from Hwy#12 or west from Simcoe St. The entrance gate to the lagoons is located on Scugog Line #8 (east of Hwy#12 or west of Simcoe St) which is one road north of Reach St.
