Hi Ontbirders,

This afternoon at 3 PM Julie Hughes and I were observing the waterfowl in
the quarry pond on the north side of Giroux Road when the Green-winged Teal
and Ring-billed Gulls suddenly flushed. A juvenile Peregrine Falcon was the
cause and after it made a couple of passes, everyone settled down, including
the falcon. It perched on a rock on a mud flat in the pond and sat there for
about ten minutes bathed in sunlight and offering wonderful full front views
through the scope. It then flew off to the west down Giroux Road just before
an approaching heavy downpour hit the area.

Happy birding,
Peter Campbell
