I observed and photographed a Great Egret wearing a red colour-band on 2
August at the Oakville Waste Water Management Pond just east of Bronte Road
in Oakville. The red band carried the number 47W and, according to Chip
Weseloh, the bander, it was banded on 20 June 2008 as a flightless young at
Npttawasaga island, near Collingwood. This indicates that there may be other
colour-banded egrets in the Torronto area. Please keep your eyes open and
watch for red bands. A photo of the bird can be seen at

QEW to Bronte Road North. East on Upper Middle Road. The waste management
pond is on the north side of Upper Middle road, between Bronte Road and
Grand Oak Trail
