Today was mostly sunny with variable amounts of cumulous clouds creating
rather ideal conditions for hawk watching. Winds were generally light and
highly variable as far as orientation.

Raptor Observations:
After a bit of slow start, there was some decent movement seen during the
middle portions of the day. The activity overall was somewhat disorganized
I suspect due to the variability in the wind, particularly at altitude as
these winds seemed more substantial then the surface winds. Perhaps
surprising was that the most numerous bird was Red-tailed Hawk, although it
is not altogether unusual to have significant numbers of first year
Red-tails migrating in September at this site. Bald Eagles were also quite
evident today with four or five in view at any given time during much of
the day. Not all were migrants but a good number were tallied as such

Non-raptor Observations:
Large numbers of dragonflies were on the go today, especially Green Darners
with lesser numbers of Black Saddlebags noted. A couple of Common
Nighthawks were also seen today. Warblers generally were quite numerous
again today but somewhat less cooperative, many flying overhead and not
stopping to be IDed.
