Weather:
Sunny skies prevailed throughout the day today with some nice cumulous in
the afternoon as a background for finding high-flying migrants. Light
east-northeast winds early in the day gradual made their way around to the
southeast by early afternoon, remaining light for the most part.

Raptor Observations:
The flight overall today was much lighter than anticipated with a few small
groups of Broad-wings seen in mid morning not leading to any sustained
movement of birds. There was however several small kettles noted in the
latter part of the afternoon, a good omen for tomorrow I should think. The
largest of these groups was in the ballpark of 35-40 birds. Most other
species were recorded in small numbers although TVs and Kestrels saw their
biggest movements so far this fall, albeit in quite unimpressive totals
overall.

Non-raptor Observations:
It seems that the clear skies overnight emptied the area of much of the
passerine activity that had been so prevalent the last few days. The most
obvious non-raptor migrant during the day today was Chimney Swift along
with pretty good numbers of Northern Rough-winged Swallows.
