[Ontbirds] 6 BALD EAGLES among 44 migrating raptors at Cranberry, Whitby--Aug.26/09

Geoff Carpentier coordinated CMRW today/Aug.26, for 6.5 hours-- after morning drizzling the raptors started to appear after the 1000 hour EDT. He counted 6 juvenile BALD EAGLES(5 first year, 1 3rd year), along with 9 OSPREYS, 2 TURKEY VULTURES, 2 N.HARRIERS, 5 SHARP-SHINNEDS, 4 COOPER'S, 7 BROAD-WINGED HAWKS, 4 RED-TAILED HAWKS and 5 AM. KESTRELS.

Geoff listed 51 different birds in the area; including several warblers, Wilson's snipe, blue-grey gnatcatcher, marsh wren.

>From the west alomg the 401, exit at Salem Rd. in Ajax, south to Bayly, east through LakeRidge to Hall's Rd., south to the second roadside parking area, just north of the lake.
