Visitors:
Only 4 visitors made it out to the Tower today, and among those were Jim
McCoy, Andrew Davis, and Dean Porter (OH).


Weather:
Clear, cloudless skies in place through early PM. Clouds building in from
off of the lake starting around 1300 EST. Light Northwest winds at 1 to 2
mph early on soon turned West and then Southwest at 2 to 7 mph, and
eventually South, with a touch of Southeast, at 1 to 3 mph by about 1400
EST. Temps. ranged from 7.5 to 16.5C. Visibility excellent for most of the
day.



Raptor Observations:
Another sizeable flight of Vultures, but smaller numbers of other raptors.

Non-raptor Observations:
An endless stream of BLUE JAYS starting early and petering out into the
afternoon and totaling 158,300 easily surpassed the previous high count for
the season on 24 Sep (110,800). 

12 species of waterfowl,

Black-crowned Night-Heron- 2,
Bald Eagle- 5 locals, 

Killdeer- 64,
Solitary Sandpiper- 1,

Common Nighthawk- 2,
Chimney Swift- 10,

Red-bellied Woodpecker- 3 (westbound migrants)
Hairy Woodpecker- 1 (first this season)

BLUE JAY- 158,300 (new season high),

Am. Pipit- 34+,
Cedar Waxwing- 176,

Few warblers on the ground, but ; as many as 9 species noted with at least
1 Yellow and 1 Cape May.

Indigo Bunting- 2+,

Rusty Blackbird- 1 (FOF),

Purple Finch- 22+,
House Finch- as many as 52 (flock of 25 believed to be this species vs.
PUFI; mostly silent)
Am. Goldfinch- 2,335,

Other:
Monarch- 24.


Predictions:
Overcast skies with rain showers likely. Some clearing possible through the
PM hours. Southeast winds at 10 to 15 mph in the AM switching to Southwest
at 15 to 20 mph later in the day. High of 16C. Chance of rain around 100%.
Risk of a t-storm in the PM.
