Official Counter: Jim Pawlicki

Observers: Dennis Patrick

Visitors:
A fair number of park visitors came up the tower today to enjoy the view on
this unseasonably warm Thanksgiving. Familiar visitors included Dave Tarcia
and Jim McCoy who showed up for a brief time in the morning, along with
Canadian Peregrine members Dennis Patrick and Gwen Gidge from Windsor.

Weather:
Partly cloudy, hot (high 29C), and relatively calm with light S winds.

Raptor Observations:
Not many birds in the heat, but Sharp-shins were on the move, while a few
distant kettles of Turkey Vultures were visible out over the treeline to
the north. The juv. light morph Rough-legged Hawk came through in the
morning relatively low and just north of the tower. A distant Peregrine
went by in the morning, while a juv. flew through out over the marsh late
in the afternoon.

Non-raptor Observations:
Notable were 22 Ring-necked Ducks and 2 Redheads in the marsh, as well as
Hermit Thrush, Winter Wren, C. Yellowthroat, and Tufted Titmouse around the
tower. Day 7 for the Greater Yellowlegs on the pond, while 8 Dunlin were
observed on the hunt club beach just west of the park by the bird-banding
crew. Also 6,064 Blue Jays, 2 Pine Siskins, 48 Rusty Blackbirds, and 11
Am. Pipits.

Predictions:
Partly cloudy with NE winds 8-10 km/hr. High of 18C. With the cooler temps
and NE winds there should be a large number of raptors on the move
tomorrow.
