There were lots of visitors to the tower today who were a great help! A
special thanks goes out to the crew from Ohio, who helped keep track of the
sightings while I was delayed with car repairs this morning - thank you Bob
Finkelstein, Jim Heflich, Paula Lozano and Lukas & Linua Pategimeas! Jamie
Fenneman from Victoria BC also joined the gang along with Jaso Telasco, the
Bakers and friends and some keen young birders who we hope to see again.

ps - one observer left their Bushnell Spacemaster scope behind. Please
contact us if this is yours!

Winds started out from the WNW early this morning, with early morning
temperatures around 9C and clear skies. As the day progressed, cloud cover
increased and winds swung to the S-SW, with high temperatures of 17C.

Raptor Observations:
The morning started out promising, with decent flights that lasted until
about noon. Turkey Vultures were seen in good numbers in the morning. The
flights were relatively low, but as the temperatures increase in the
afternoon hours, all raptors were seen at much higher elevations. SW winds
all but shut down migrants through the site by 2 pm, with observers noting
large kettles of Vultures moving through the area quite a bit north of the
hawk tower

Non-raptor Observations:
There was a great movement of Black-capped Chickadees through the area
today. In just over an hour 125 individuals were counted moving past the
tower. A late Orange-crowned Warbler was noted near the fish pond today.

Partly cloudy skies with west winds and a high of 13C are predicted for
tomorrow. Birds should be lower than today and we may see some good
