West Humber Club's outing today produced some interesting birds. Best find were 15 Grey Partridge near Brantford Airport, exactly where they were seen yesterday, near the intersection of Portruff and Robinson roads. After about 30 mins., they flew off towards the runway area. An adult Bald Eagle flew over soon afterwards.
In Ancaster, on Concession 4, a manure field produced 1500 Snow Buntings, 35 Horned Larks and 5 Lapland Longspurs.
Desjardins Canal in Dundas (York off Highway 6) held a Pied-billed Grebe, American Coot, Belted Kingfisher and 20 Hooded Mergansers.
At the Burlington Ship Canal were 1st-year Glaucous Gull, White-winged Scoter, Redhead, and hundreds of other ducks.
Red Hill Creek had 20 Ruddy Ducks, 3 Ring-necked Ducks, 3 DC Cormorants, 2 BC Night Herons, 4 Great Blue Herons and 2 more Hooded Mergansers.
2 Horned Grebes swam off the ice at Van Wagners Beach.
Near Bolton at dusk we saw 4 Short-eared Owls.
