Bird Protection Quebec had a field trip yesterday  (August 20) to St-Isidore, Casselman, Embrun and St-Albert sewage lagoons.  The following interesting birds were found
Casselman - 1 Black-bellied Plover; 3 Semipalmated Plover; 3 Solitary Sandpipers; 3 Sanderling; 6 Wilson's Snipe; Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs; Least and Semipalmated Sandpipers.  These were all found in the semi-drained pond in the back left corner from the gate; the one where a large steam shovel is parked on the bank. Also an immature Bald Eagle and a Broad-winged Hawk flying over the site.  A Mourning Warbler and an Indigo Bunting were seen in the bushes and trees along the cornfield close to the entrance gate.
Embrun - 3 Red-necked Phalarope; 1 Redhead; 1 Ring-necked Duck. All were seen in the first pond on the left from the entrance gate.
A total of 64 species combined from all four lagoons.  A great day.
