Birded the Ottawa River today with Judy Hall and a friend from England. At Andrew Haydon Park, the two Brant were still in residence as well as the flock of Green-winged Teal on the Western Pond. Among several flocks of White-winged Scoter on the river was a single Black Scoter. An immature Bald Eagle and a Rough-legged Hawk kept the hundreds of geese and ducks regularly up in the air. Several Common Loons were on the river as well as a number of Horned and Red-necked Grebes. At Shirley's Bay, a visit to the Hilda Road bird feeder turned up a Northern Shrike skulking in the shrubs where several dozen Red-winged Blackbirds were in attendance. Along the shore at the Shirleys Bay boat launch was a flock of 40 Snow Buntings.
