Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 14:00:00
Total observation time: 7 hours

Official Counter: Todd Pepper

Observers: Dennis Patrick, Frank Dolby, Gwen Gidge, Jim McCoy,
                  Rene Kielbasa

Visitors:
Another 6 first time visitors today, 2 women and 2 couples from the
Essex-Windsor area, drawn to the site by the local media attention. In
addition a couple from Norfolk County spending a week of fall vacation
taking in the sights of Essex-Windsor. They were off to taste some local
wineries after they left the tower.

Weather:
A cloudy, dull day. Temperatures ranged from 14 - 17C; winds out of the
west in the a.m. in the 15 - 20 km/hr range, shifting to south-west in the
p.m.

Raptor Observations:
A total of 177 birds of 8 species, of which 60% were Turkey Vultures. The
bird of the day was the 3rd Golden Eagle of the year. This one was an adult
and flew by within minutes of a visitor asking me if we had seen any yet
this year. The eagle then co-operated by circling back so I was able to get
it in the scope for her 'lifer' Golden Eagle.

Non-raptor Observations:
Little other migration today. Highlights included: 6 Chimney Swift; 1900
Blue Jays; 50 Red-winged Blackbirds and 328 American Goldfinch. There were
also Yellow-rumped and Black-polled Warblers, a smattering of Kinglets and
2 Pine Siskin.

Predictions:
A mostly sunny day, but it is going to be chilly with temperatures between
6 - 11C; winds out of the west from 15 - 20 km/hr. The Accipitors should be
flying again.
