I observed the Western Kingbird from approximately 7:15 p.m. until just before sunset, hawking insects in the same area as described by other reporters, left of the small pond's footbridge. It was using the same couple of small leafless maples for perches. It flew off just before sunset, seemingly towards the thicker copse of trees just to the west of this position, perhaps to roost, but we could not tell where it landed. It was also observed by several birders, including David Pryor and Steve LaForest.
Access to footpaths also available directly off Keele Street south of Sheppard if taking public transit.
Directions as per Elias Takacs' post:
The park is located at the intersection of Sheppard Avenue and Keele Street in
North York. It is best accessed from Sheppard Avenue from which you will
turn on John Drury Drive and then proceed onto Canuck Avenue and park your
car at the end of that street. From there it's on foot and you have to
take paved path that's somewhat circular and apparently also called John
Drury Drive (according to Google Maps) but in reality isn't market...anyway
you can't miss it if you come straight from the parking lot. Just make
sure you turn left as that's the shorter route to the small bridge and
small pond, although if you turn right you'll end up there as well since
it's a circular path.
