Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 7 hours

Official Counter: Jenna McDermott

Observers: Bob Hall-Brooks, Kory Renaud, Tom Preney

Visitors:
A couple from Amherstburg visited and spotted one of the resident Bald
Eagles, and a hike from Ojibway led by Tom Preney stopped in at the tower
for a while.

Weather:
Hot and humid again today (max 28C) with a breeze at times coming from the
SW and SE. There were no clouds through most of the day, with some moving
in during the afternoon.

Raptor Observations:
Things are picking up a little bit. The first 2 Sharp-shinned Hawks were
seen for the season, along with 6 Ospreys, 7 Northern Harriers, 8 American
Kestrels and one Merlin.

Non-raptor Observations:
It was an exciting day for non-raptors, with flocks of migrating warblers
in the willows around the tower. 11 species of warbler were seen. An
immature Red-headed Woodpecker also passed the tower, which was unexpected
and welcome. Cedar Waxwings continue to migrate in flocks up to 65,
totalling 413 for the day. Switching to ducks, there are of course Mallards
and Wood Ducks, but also Blue-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler, and a Ruddy
Duck. Dragonflies for the day were 30 Twelve-Spotted Skimmers, 74 Black
Saddlebags and 9 Common Green Darners. 3 Monarchs. For a list of all
today's bird species see the eBird checklist
http://ebird.org/ebird/canada/view/checklist?subID=S24876327

Predictions:
22C feeling like 31C in the morning with a chance of showers, and a chance
of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Winds from the S at 15kph.
