Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end time: 15:30:00
Total observation time: 7.5 hours

Official Counter: Jenna McDermott

Observers: Steve Greidanus

Visitors:
Mike, Stan and Paul visited as well as Ruth and Linda from La Salle and a
few local folks out enjoying the park.

Weather:
The hottest day yet with a scorching sun. Any help from the clouds was gone
by afternoon and a very slight breeze came from the S and SE.

Raptor Observations:
110 raptors for a hot, south wind day was quite a pleasant surprise.
American Kestrels were the most abundant with 55, followed by Sharp-shinned
Hawks. 2 Merlins swooped by, one of which decided it would be a great idea
to chase a cormorant. One Cooper's Hawk hid itself within the sharpies.
Bald Eagles, Osprey, and Northern Harriers were also migrating today.

Non-raptor Observations:
A few more swallows and Purple Martins flew by again this morning, as well
as 17 Chimney Swifts and 417 Cedar Waxwings. Two Yellowlegs sp. also
arrived in the marsh. Dragonflies for the day were: 9 Twelve-spotted
Skimmers, 44 Black Saddlebags, 16 Common Green Darners. 2 Monarchs. See
today's eBirds checklist for all birds seen from the tower
http://ebird.org/ebird/canada/view/checklist?subID=S24941143

Predictions:
High heat and humidity again with some clouds and winds from the south.
