Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 14:00:00
Total observation time: 7 hours

Official Counter: Jenna McDermott

Observers: Jeanice Seals, Jim McCoy, John Craft, Theresa Lindsey

Visitors:
The ladies from Tennessee arrived for their annual visit, and Marcel braved
the winds in the afternoon.

Weather:
I'm happy to report that the tower is still standing. The wind was doing
its best to throw the occupants of the tower off as well, but everyone made
it with limbs intact. The speed hovered around 20kph with gusts up to
40kph, from the SW. Sun in the morning was welcomed to combat the chill
wind, but eventually the sky clouded over completely.

Raptor Observations:
Strong winds from a typically unhelpful direction made for a scant amount
of birds. Just under 60 Turkey Vultures blustered by the north shore of the
marsh, low over the trees. Two Peregrine Falcons were fun to see, trying
for a few ducks as they passed by. One adult Bald Eagle migrated with a few
Turkey Vultures and four Red-tails struggled to cross as well. One
Sharp-shinned Hawk rounded out the count for the day.

Non-raptor Observations:
The skies were pretty empty, only producing 2 Mourning Doves, 12 American
Crows, 53 Tree Swallows, 30 starlings and 3 Red-winged Blackbirds.
Bonaparte's Gulls were managing quite well in the wind. See today's eBird
list http://ebird.org/ebird/canada/view/checklist?subID=S25618788

Predictions:
Winds should calm a bit and switch to the NW for the morning, becoming more
ideal for seeing migration here.
