Unexpected but not unprecedented, a WILSON'S SNIPE in the
Cattaraugus County Town of Hinsdale. Flushed from a spring
fed marsh on February 15. There is a long history of
wintering WILSON'S SNIPE in the Southern Tier.

Even after sub-zero temperatures, a hearty BALTIMORE ORIOLE
continues at an Orchard Park feeder, along with 2 WHITE-THR.
  SPARROWS.

At other feeders this week - 17 species in North Boston
included 3 BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS and two winter resident
SONG SPARROWS. On the Lake Ontario shore at Sunset Beach in
Orleans County, an intermittent RED-HEADED WDPKR. and five
  PINE SISKINS.

Late winter field birds - at the Dunkirk Airport in
Chautauqua County, two LAPLAND LONGSPURS with HORNED LARKS
and SNOW BUNTINGS. And in Orleans County, 50 SNOW BUNTINGS
  and a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK.

Also this week - 70 TUNDRA SWANS on Lake Ontario at the
mouth of Johnson Creek. And at Birdsong Park in Orchard
Park, PILEATED WOODPECKER and CAROLINA WREN.

The Bird Report will be updated Thursday evening, February
  25. Please call in your sightings by noon Thursday. You may
