Official Counter:        Hugh Kent

Observers:        Liz Kent

Visitors:
It was good to see Mike again who helped observe for the morning. It was
good to see Eric in the afternoon who did a little photography from the
Tower.

Weather:
The wind was initially light from the north but soon changed mid morning to
a southerly moderate wind. A cold start to the day soon warmed up to around
10c. Clear skies all day with good visibility but a bit hazy in the
morning.

Raptor Observations:
Quieter day with a bit of excitement mid morning when a Swainson's Hawk was
sighted to the north. Red-tailed Hawk (71) again led the pack with Turkey
Vultures (17) a long way back. Golden Eagles (3) were seen way to the
north, like London Buses coming close together in a period of half an hour
early afternoon. Other species seen were in low numbers; Red-shouldered
Hawk (7), Northern Harrier (6),  Cooper's Hawk (4), Bald Eagle (3),
Sharp-shinned Hawk (2) and a single Merlin.

Non-raptor Observations:
Duck day again, with more species being seen on the lake including Common
Goldeneye (8) (new for the Season), Bufflehead (13), Hooded Merganser (7),
Red-breasted Merganser (6), Canvasback (3) and a Horned Grebe. Lower
numbers of small birds but with a good variety including a Tufted Titmouse,
new for the season, American Pipit (8), Horned Lark (10), Purple Finch (5),
Eastern Bluebird (17) and Pine Siskin (30). American Crow (670) are still
moving through in numbers. An Eastern Screech Owl was heard calling from
the trees to the north east. https://ebird.org/checklist/S154469140

Predictions:
The forecast is for a pretty similar day to today with a moderate south
west wind from the start, cloudy but clearing by midday. Temperatures start
at 5c but reach 13c in the afternoon. I guess a similar mix to day, but
with hopefully slightly greater numbers.
