Visitors:
We thank today's observers for their efforts and those interested in the
ongoing Hawk Count. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, access to the top level
of Hawk Tower is limited to hawk counters and qualified observers only. The
2nd and lower levels are open to the public practising COVID-19 safe
precautions (social distancing). Thank you for your understanding and
involvement.

Weather:
The day was overcast with a light wind from the south increasing to
moderate by mid day. The rain came late morning, and the visibility
decreased. Temperatures rose slightly from 3c initially to 6c.

Raptor Observations:
As expected with the impeding rain very few raptors were flying, just 2
Cooper's Hawks, a Northern Harrier, a Sharp-shinned Hawk and a single
Red-tailed Hawk. Having seen no raptors in an hour, the watch was curtailed
at 1pm.

Non-raptor Observations:
Definitely a day for ducks with numbers stable on the marsh, and good
numbers of gulls. A single Great Egret remains on the marsh. A few Horned
Larks (44), Cedar Waxwings (129) and American Goldfinches (123) passed by
before the rain came. Rusty Blackbirds (60) and Red-winged Blackbirds (151)
stopped by in the trees before heading west. A single Winter Wren chattered
at us early on. The list is at https://ebird.org/checklist/S97901667

Predictions:
Tomorrow is forecast to be cold and dry, partly cloudy with a moderate wind
from the west north west. Hopefully these conditions will bring a few more
raptors than today.
