The sky would clear, with temperatures becoming quite hot by mid-afternoon. Winds would gradually move to a southern position. Raptor Observations: Festival of Hawks day two; another good day of flight. Sharp-shinned Hawks led off, with American Kestrels slowing gaining ground as the day wore on. Merlin and Northern Harrier also made an excellent showing. A huge shout out to Jeremy B. for spotting the massive Broad-winged kettle extremely high in the sky in the afternoon. They could only faintly be seen with binoculars, and could only be counted with a scope. Thank you to all HBMO volunteers for your contributions. On the non-raptor front, Warblers were slower again this morning, with the usual cast of characters on the marsh.
