Total observation time: 3 hours

Official Counter:        Michael Patrikeev

Observers:        Ben Sehl, Jo Patterson

Visitors:
No visitors, due to rainy weather.

We welcome visitors to our site by the boat launch in Lake Erie Metro Park.
We are willing to spread the word with pamphlets and information cards,
along with tips on raptors identification. Let us share our enthusiasm for
this miracle of nature with you.

Weather:
Light, but steady rain was falling from 9 AM to 12:45 PM, leaving us only a
2.5 hour window to count hawks. The wind  veered from East-North-East in
the morning to South-East in mid-afternoon, but it did not exceed 7 miles
per hour at any time. Temperature remained between 65 and 70 F (+18 to +21
C). More rain at 3:30 PM.

Raptor Observations:
Rain and drizzle grounded the majority of raptors, and we ended up with a
count of thirteen. However, a close look at two Peregrine Falcons and male
Northern Harrier brightened up the day. Seven Sharp-shinned Hawks and two
kestrels were also seen, as well as local Cooper's Hawk, Osprey and Bald
Eagles.

Non-raptor Observations:
Several Chimney Swifts, Tree Swallows and Pied-billed Grebes.

Predictions:
Sun and clouds, no rain, and westerly winds are expected tomorrow, and we
are hoping to see Sharp-shinned Hawks, kestrels, harriers, and perhaps
Turkey Vultures and the Broad-wings.
