Visitors:
Thank you to Michelle for keeping me company and giving me a moral boost
this morning!

Weather:
Today was cold and very, very windy with up to 36km/h winds from the
southwest. It was difficult to use a scope and binoculars. Throughout the
day, ice was noticeably increasing on the marsh and ponds.

Raptor Observations:
There were very few raptors today with five red tailed hawks, four turkey
vultures and two northern harriers. Eventually the weather conditions
became a bit difficult for the lack of hawks being seen today and called it
a day at 2pm.

Non-raptor Observations:
Like the raptors, most other birds were missing today. The waterfowl
usually present on the marsh were greatly reduced, likely hiding from the
wind. Songbirds were almost completely absent too. There were however a
small group of hooded mergansers which landed in the trout pond, and few
groups of tundra swan flying over. Also present today were large numbers of
ring-billed gulls, much higher numbers than we have seen so far.

Predictions:
Tomorrow looks more frigid than today with strong winds again from the
southwest. It is likely to be another slow migration day.
