Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end  time: 14:00:00
Total observation time: 7 hours

Official Counter:        Tom Bolohan

Observers:        Su Ross-Redmond

Visitors:
There were a handful of visitors today despite the tough start with the
weather. Thanks to Tom B and Su for hanging in and getting a count done
today.

Weather:
A wet start to the day as the cold front slid through southwestern Ontario
and cleared to the E. It eventually dried out and some birds came through.
Temps ranged from 7C to 20C and skies went from total overcast to pure blue
skies by the end of the count period.

Raptor Observations:
A small flight today of 284 birds the bulk of which were TVs (240)... along
with a single Osprey, Bald Eagles (5), N Harriers (14), Sharpies (13),
Cooper's Hawks (3), a lone Redtail, Am Kestrels (3), one Merlin and a
couple of Peregrines.

Non-raptor Observations:
None reported today.

Predictions:
Monday's forecast looks very good for hawk migration with a mix of sun and
cloud, moderate to strong NW winds (especially aloft) and high updraft
velocities. The only issue will be some wind shear which will lessen the
buoyancy of thermal columns as the shear will try and pull them apart. With
the passage of a pretty good cold front we're hoping this will get raptors
moving southbound and perhaps we'll get a decent flight.
