Observation start time: 06:00:00
Observation end time: 13:00:00
Total observation time: 7 hours
Official Counter: Tom Bolohan
Observers: Derek Lyon, Harold V., Ken Wootton, Richard Skevington
Visitors:
A few visitors today including a group from the Woodstock FN with Richard
S. Thanks to Tom B, Derek, Ken and Harold for getting a count done today.
Weather:
Different day.... same weather...pure blue skies with no clouds, temps cool
to start and warming up nicely to around 17C and continued high pressure
dominating the region. Winds were light from the ENE then eventually backed
to E, ESE and ended at straight S.
Raptor Observations:
A pretty typical flight for October with less than ideal winds with a total
of 671 birds tallied. Most were TVs (566) and Retails (62) with a
smattering of other species. The highlight was 4 more Golden Eagles.
Non-raptor Observations:
None reported today.
Predictions:
Well, the forecast is not the best for this time of the fall migration with
light S and SW winds for Sunday... which will tend to push the birds inland
away from the hawk watch area. It's difficult to know what, if any birds
will be flying along the lakeshore area.
