North Bay Christmas Bird Count, December 14, 2025 - Preliminary Results Most Abundant Birds Observed: Mallards, American Crows, Common Ravens, Blue Jays and Black-capped Chickadees were abundant; Red-breasted and White-breasted Nuthatches were frequent; 12 American Black Ducks and 21 Common Goldeneye were observed in the open waters; 3 Woodpecker species - Downy, Hairy and Pileated were observed in strong numbers; 15 American Tree Sparrows and 8 Dark-Eyed Juncos were found; some finch species were well counted, including Pine Grosbeak, Redpoll, and Evening Grosbeak. Specialty and out-of-season Birds Observed: 1 Black Duck/Mallard Hybrid; 1 Common Loon; 1 Merlin; 13 Wild Turkeys; 1 Northern Shrike; 1 American Robin; 60 Bohemian Waxwings; 1 Song Sparrow; 1 White-Throated Sparrow; 1 White-Crowned Sparrow; 41 Snow Bunting; 2 Common Grackles. Misses and Poorly Represented: 1 Ruffed Grouse; 1 American Herring Gull; 0 Owl; 0 Brown Creeper; 0 Northern Cardinal; 0 Purple Finch; 0 Pine Siskin; 15 American Goldfinch.
