Kingston Area Birds June 13, 2026 – June 19, 2026
Kingston Field Naturalists (KFN) maintain records in a 50km radius of
MacDonald Park, Kingston. Birders using eBird are encouraged to share their
sightings with ‘Kingston FN’. Alternatively, please email records directly
to me – contact details below. Please note that some sightings may require
review and remain unconfirmed unless stated otherwise. Species in bold type
require completion of a rare bird report available on the KFN website or
directly from me. If indicated, an OBRC report may be required instead (
http://www.ofo.ca/site/Obrcreport). Some iPhone users report that bold type
may be replaced by asterisks.
Overview: Overall a quiet week for rarities in the Kingston Area, but
keep your eyes open, you never know what you are going to find. Reports of
an Acadian Flycatcher in Frontenac Provincial Park is definitely the
highlight of the week, just waiting on final confirmation from the rare
bird committee.

Kingston List
Greater Scaup: One bird was seen on Swetman Island (PEC) on June 16.
Least Sandpiper: One bird was seen at the O’Neill Conservation Project
(L&A) on June 16.
Red Knot: One bird was seen on Swetman Island (PEC) on June 17.
Dunlin: One bird was seen on Swetman Island (PEC) on June 17.
Semipalmated Sandpiper: Three birds were seen on Swetman Island (PEC) on
June 17.
Least Bittern: One bird was seen in Sydenham on June 14. One was seen on
the K&P Trail south of Murton Road on June 15. Two were seen on Amherst
Island on June 14. One was seen at Little Cataraqui CA on June 16.
American Coot: One bird was seen at Camden Lake Provincial Park (L&A) on
June 13.
Red-headed Woodpecker: One bird was seen at 510 Card Road, Yarker (L&A) on
June 13. One was seen in Frontenac Park on June 16. Two birds were seen at
423 Roblin Road (L&A) on June 17.
Fish Crow: Two birds were seen at Kingston City Park on June 14. One was
seen on Route 3, Sackets Harbor (JC) on June 17 and one on June 19.
Olive-sided Flycatcher: One unconfirmed bird was reported at 220D Reinink
Road (L&A) on June 14.
Acadian Flycatcher: One unconfirmed bird was reported from Frontenac
Provincial Park on June 13, one on June 14.
Swainson’s Thrush: One unconfirmed bird was reported at the Waupoos Marina
(PEC) on June 14.
Carolina Wren: One bird was seen on Amherst Island (L&A) on June 14.
Prairie Warbler: One bird was seen on Fishing Lake Road on June 14.
Orchard Oriole: One bird was seen on Simcoe Island on June 14.

Please note that you must be a card-carrying member of Kingston Field
Naturalists (KFN), or be accompanied by a member, to access the Martin
Edwards Reserve. Access to the Amherstview Sewage Lagoons is strictly
limited to KFN members only, no non-member guests permitted. Memberships
are being checked on a regular basis at Amherstview and those without are
being evicted. KFN members wishing to enter the Invista property must enter
through the west gate and show their membership card to security.
