Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end  time: 13:00:00
Total observation time: 5 hours

Official Counter:        1Counter

Observers:        Ken Wootton

Visitors:
Thanks to Ken W and everyone else who helped with today's count! (sorry
didn't get any names)

Weather:
Winds started NE but then backed around to E and eventually to SE by early
afternoon at which point the flight shut down. Temps continued to be on the
warm side starting at 18C and getting to a high of 21C. There was complete
cloud cover till the winds switched to SE at which point the skies cleared
out.

Raptor Observations:
Today's flight was more quality over quantity with just 88 raptors tallied
for the count period.

On the quality side... the counters had our first GOLDEN EAGLE which was
observed flying past just to the north of the viewing platform where it was
observed by everyone. This eagle was completely dark with no white at all
on it so appeared adult like. The counters also got another Peregrine and
the N. Harriers (29) continued their string of good flights. We've now
counted 212 N. Harriers in the past 5 days! The flight also included a
small number of Broadwings (8) as their flight has mostly pushed through by
now.

Non-raptor Observations:
None were reported today.

Predictions:
The winds for Tuesday are forecast to be straight from the S which may
bring some migrant raptors along the cliff edge as they use the updraft for
a free ride. Weatherwise it's supposed to be a mix of sun and cloud.
Unfortunately, S winds tend to push most of the flight inland away from the
hawk watch.
