Effective today the Region of Durham has re-opened the Nonquon lagoons
to birders. A permit is required to access the lagoons. Click on the
link below for all the info you need to apply (where and how) and how to
get into the lagoons after you get your permit. Remember you have to
download the permit application BEFORE you go either to the Regional
office or the Port Perry Transfer Station to validate your permit.
Simply downloading it does not activate it automatically.

This was a very long and complicated process this year to get them to
open the lagoons that started with my first call to the Region in
February ... needless to say I am pleased that we finally can get in.
There is a small glitch that I hope will be fixed tomorrow - there are
padlocks on the key pad gate. I have asked that they be removed so that
when you get your permit and the access code you will be able to enter.

PLEASE do not attempt to enter without your own permit. They are very
clear that EVERYONE who goes must have their own individual permit.
There are no group permits. Failure to comply with this simple
requirement may spoil it for the rest of us.

Thank-you and enjoy the lagoons!
