Raptor Observations: A whole lot of empty skies today. Was not expecting much in terms of flight with the storms to our north and S wind, but the long stretches of empty sky was a bore. The sharp-shinned hawks really made the day, with the strongest hour being 17 going by, but after that it was single birds moving low over the channel. One single kestrel and one single broad winged hawk made the mix. At least the conversation was good! Non-raptor Observations: The normal lot was around, including the massive float of cormorants, gulls, and terns hanging around out over the river, pelicans and mute swans in the mix. Predictions: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2pm, then a slight chance of showers between 2pm and 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. Northeast wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. If the rain holds off, it could make for a nice day if all the birds to the north got held up by the storms today.
