Official Counter: Su Ross-Redmond
Observers:
Visitors:
Only a couple of visitors today and thanks to Su for doing todays count.
Weather:
It was a beautiful fall day today with lots of blue skies and a few clouds
around. Temps were from 15C to 18C where it stayed for the rest of the day.
The winds were pretty much light WSW for the entire count period.
Raptor Observations:
A small number of birds on the move today on somewhat less than optimal
winds but beautiful sunshine. Total of 229 birds for the count. A late
Osprey and a couple of nice Peregrines were the main highlights.
Non-raptor Observations:
None reported today.
Predictions:
The forecast for SE winds will mean that most birds that are on the move on
Saturday will get pushed more inland away from the hawk watch. SE winds are
pretty much the worst direction for any kind of raptor flight at Hawk
Cliff.
