Visitors:
There were no visitors to the tower today, but there were a handful of
people walking around the park. It was nice to see people enjoying the park
despite the weather!
Weather:
Today was chilly with winds from the southwest. The high was about 2°C.
The morning started off, bright and partly cloudy and changed to very windy
with blustery snow by the afternoon.
Raptor Observations:
There were very few raptors today, all of them flew from the north side of
the marsh and over the far tree line. In total there were 12 red tailed
hawks, three Cooperâs hawks and three sharp shinned hawks.
Non-raptor Observations:
Unfortunately there are not many species to report today. Majority of
species were seen during the morning when the sun was out and they quickly
disappeared once the strong winds and snow came. Again today they were very
few song birds, and even the water fowl seem to have decreased, possibly
due to weather. There were, however, still many gold finches migrating, and
horned lark. Two Sandhill cranes were spotted at the far end of the marsh,
and two red breasted merganser on the lake.

Predictions:
Tomorrow will be slightly colder than today with chances of snow and
southwest to west winds. Itâs likely that few raptors will be seen
tomorrow but there is always the chance for a golden eagle or rough-legged
hawk!
