Thanks to Su and Ronnie for doing a count today and for help from the visitors to spot the birds. Weather: Not the most promising day weather wise, but despite the wind dropping off to nothing, apparently it was strong enough early on to push birds down towards Hawk Cliff. Almost completely clouded in for the day and quite warm starting at 20C and getting to a high of 25C. Pressure was moving slightly higher and winds were light from the NW and then basically went to nil. Raptor Observations: A decent flight today with a total of 1,132 raptors tallied. Most were Broadwings (907) with a smattering of other species including Am Kestrels (51), Sharpies (159), Merlins (7), N Harriers (7) and a lone Cooper's Hawk. Non-raptor Observations: None reported today. Predictions: Unfortunately for Thursday the forecast is for morning rain right along the north shore of Lake Erie which would include the Hawk Cliff area.
