Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end time: 14:00:00
Total observation time: 6 hours
Official Counter: 1Counter
Observers: Ernie Gribble, Jim Bradshaw, Kitty Bradshaw
Visitors:
A big thanks to Kitty and Jim B for getting today's count done with help
from Ernie G and Jeff S.
Weather:
Winds were light from the NE to start but quickly backed to the SW for the
remainder of the day. Temps were steady from 20C to 21C for the count
period. High wispy clouds filled in later to a mix of sun and cloud.
Raptor Observations:
A much better day today than I had expected partly with good thermal lift
values and no rain at all allowing the flight to get going. Total birds
today was 337 with another push of Sharpies (143), a small flight of
Broadwings (102) and then decent numbers of Northern Harriers (33) and Am
Kestrels (40).
Non-raptor Observations:
A Common Nighthawk and a few RT Hummingbirds were the only non-raptors
reported today.
Predictions:
Tuesday will see rain all day so likely no count will be done.
