Good morning birders,
Another great morning of birding in the Park. Many migrant species have
been seen. About 22 species of wood warbler have been noted. This included
BLACKPOLL, BLUE-WINGED, WILSON’S, OVENBIRD, CAPE MAY, etc.
At the tip an immature LITTLE GULL was present. Also noted was a
BLUE-WINGED WARBLER and there were a MARSH WREN and a YELLOW-THROATED VIREO
spotted near the Tip.
Farther north along the Redbud Trail people saw a WHITE-EYED VIREO, and a
YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT.
Tilden Trail was quite birdie, with at least a dozen species of warbler as
well as many other migrants. Birders were pleased to see SCARLET TANAGERs
and ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKs by the dozen. Also a YELLOW-THROATED VIREO was
noted.
A PRAIRIE WARBLER was recorded being seen at the Park Orientation Display
near the entrance to the Park.
Outside the Park, at Hillman Marsh a WILSON’S PHALAROPE was seen and a RED
KNOT was reported from the north tip of the East Beach Road.
A MISSISSIPPI KITE was reported flying north over the parking lot at the
Visitor Centre.
Good Birding
