I suggested last week that it would be a good idea to keep an eye on mud flats - especially at Andrew Haydon Park - and the shorebirds were beginning to show up until the heavy rain falls midweek caused the river levels to rise. Fortunately, the very photogenic Greater White-fronted Goose was still present as a consolation bird at Andrew Haydon. Convective storms and rain on Saturday and then again on Monday could ground any birds moving through the area before winds shift to the northwest starting on Tuesday and providing better conditions for songbirds and shorebirds to push into our area.
