Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end  time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 8 hours

Official Counter:        Chad Cornish

Observers:        Chuck Sharbaugh, Hugh Kent, Jeremy Bensette, Karen Padbury,
Noel Herdman, Paul Gosselin

Weather:
Very minimal north winds early, with heavy fog and cloud cover added to the
mix. The sky eventually opened up later in the afternoon; unfortunately the
slight winds also shifted south.

Raptor Observations:
Festival of Hawks day one. A steady stream of Sharp-shinned Hawks (286)
made their way over the tower throughout the day, much to the delight of
festival goers. Merlin came in second with another fine showing (11). Will
this be a record-breaking year for this feisty falcon?

Non-raptor Observations:
Thanks to Chad for being the offical counter for the day. Paul, Karen,
Noel, Chuck, Daniel, Jeremy B, and Hugh were all a big help on the tower
today. Many visitors climbed the tower to catch a glimpse of the raptor
migration.

Predictions:
Warmer tomorrow, with a mix of sun and cloud. Winds starting from the
north, with a gradual turn towards the east. Hoping for another good show
of raptors.
