Good morning birders,
Another lovely morning in the park with blue skies and sunshine! Some new
migrants arrived overnight, with many of the same species from the previous
day. The Tip had a few notable sightings including AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN,
a LEAST BITTERN sitting in a tree, and the first YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER
sighted during the 2026 Festival of Birds. A SCARLET TANAGER pleased many
observers.
The woods were similarly alive with birds, with at least three
YELLOW-BREASTED CHATS sighted on Redbud Trail, the Visitor Centre parking
lot, and Cactus Field. A few HOODED WARBLERS and BLUE-WINGED WARBLERS have
been spotted. A FISH CROW was seen observed flying over the Woodland Nature
Trail, likely the same individual that was first seen flying around the
Park yesterday afternoon.
At least 20 species of warblers have been observed today including NORTHERN
PARULA, BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER, PROTHONOTARY WARBLER, and BLACKBURNIAN
WARBLER.
Good birding,
Dale, Mark, Quinten, Asher, Max, and Aaron
