Good morning birders,
Our last day of bird reports for the Festival of Birds and the day began
overcast and quite breezy from the east.
At the Tip a RED-THROATED LOON was reported flying by. Also an AMERICAN
WHITE PELICAN flew north up the west side and back south again. DUNLIN and
SANDERLING were the only shorebirds reported.
There are still a good number of warbler species being noted, many females
but some males as well.
Along the West Beach footpath from the tram loop, CONNECTICUT, CANADA, and
WILSON'S WARBLER, among other warblers were noted.
Another couple of CONNECTICUT WARBLERs were seen in the Park in Tilden Wood
and farther north on West Beach trail.
We have seen a number of YELLOW-BILLED and BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOs also.
The PROTHONOTARY WARBLERs on Woodland Nature Trail are still showing well.
One pair has also been noted on Shuster Trail and also on DeLaurier Trail.
On Centennial Trail going north from North-west Beach Parking a SUMMER
TANAGER was seen. Also a CANADA WARBLER was reported from the same area.
There are still a good number of shorebirds being seen at Hillman Shorebird
Habitat, including WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER.
Good birding,
Friends of Point Pelee Hike leaders, Tim Arthur, Will Konze, and Pete Read
