Official Counter:        Nicole Shangi

Observers:        Hugh Kent, Liz Kent

Visitors:
Although it was a cold and blustery day today, there were still a few
people walking and enjoying holiday beach today. Thank you to all visitors!

Weather:
The days are certainly getting chillier! Today the morning started off
partly cloudy with some very helpful sunshine and a high of 4C. The latter
part of the day drew in dark clouds. The wind was high all day and from the
southwest.

Raptor Observations:
Raptors were much slower today with the southwest winds. Many emerged from
the tree line and took their time crossing over the marsh. The majority of
birds were red tailed hawks with 31. A few turkey vultures decided it was
finally time to leave along with a harrier, Merlin and two Cooper’s
hawks. Two golden eagles were also seen!

Non-raptor Observations:
Most birds seemed to hunker down from todays cold and wind. Even waterfowl
numbers seemed to decrease today. There were a few sandhill cranes who
landed on the marsh early this morning, and a whole flock of 17 great blue
herons. Goldfinches were still migrating while the sun was out today and a
few cedar waxwings and horned lark moved on too.

Predictions:
Tomorrow looks similarly cold and windy to today with southwest winds.
Likely numbers will be similar to today.
